St. Pete's after-work crowd splits two ways: Downtown, the Central Avenue and bayfront grid — or Gulfport and Grand Central, the waterfront town to the south and the Central Avenue strip west of downtown. Same bay, different night. Here is how the cited windows compare.

Downtown: the Central grid

The Hangar (540 1st St S) posts weekday happy hour 3–6 PM with $5 local drafts, $5 well cocktails, and $5 house wines Tuesday–Friday, plus half off wine bottles on Tuesday. Thirsty First (515 Central) posts the longest clock on either side: Monday–Friday 11am–7pm plus Friday 10pm–1am, with $5–$6 drinks ($6 wells, $5 select beers, seltzers and wines, $6 select cocktails) and $6–$7 food ($7 sliders, $6 Buffalo bleu fries, $6 donut cheeseburger). Downtown is the all-day option: start at lunch, stay for the 3–6 window.

Gulfport and Grand Central: the west side

Stella's (2914 Beach Blvd S, Gulfport) posts $6 bar bites every day 2–6 PM and Habit Hour drinks Monday–Friday 2–6 PM with domestic beers at $3.00. The Oyster Bar (2245 Central Ave) posts 4–6 PM daily the room is open (Tue–Sun; closed Monday) with $5 wines, $6 specialty cocktails and martinis, $1 house oysters 4–5 PM, and Tuesday $8 espresso martinis. The west side is the value play: the cheapest bites and the only oyster hour in this piece.
